Scope

This policy describes how we process personal data of registered users of ScreenDub. Visitors without an account are not tracked and no cookies beyond strictly necessary session cookies are set, unless optional measurement or affiliate features are enabled (see “Cookies and tracking”).

What we process

• Account data: email and password (hashed).
• User‑provided content: videos you upload for processing and the outputs we generate.
• Operational data: job status and a short AI summary.

Purposes and legal bases (Art. 6 GDPR)

• Provide the service (upload, process, deliver results) – Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract/steps prior to entering into a contract).
• Communicate with you about the service and updates – Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
• Marketing emails (if you opted in) – Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent, revocable at any time via email to hello@screendub.eu).

Processors, hosting and international transfers

• Hosting: Google Cloud (storage and compute) in Frankfurt, EU (europe‑west3).
• AI providers: OpenAI (text/speech processing) and ElevenLabs (text‑to‑speech). Processing may occur outside the EEA; we rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses provided by these vendors.
• Payments: Lemon Squeezy. We do not store card data; Lemon Squeezy acts as an independent controller for payment data.
• Email delivery: Brevo (transactional emails such as “video ready” and “transcript ready”).

Cookies and tracking

We use the following storage technologies:

• Strictly necessary (essential):
  • Session/authentication cookie (first‑party, set by ScreenDub via Devise) to keep you logged in.
  • Checkout cookies (set by Lemon Squeezy during payment) to complete the transaction flow.
• Non‑essential (only if enabled):
  • Google Tag (Google Ads/Analytics): when measurement is enabled, Google may set cookies such as _gcl_*, _ga, _ga_*, _gid to measure conversions and basic engagement. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), where applicable.
  • Lemon Squeezy Affiliate: when you arrive via an affiliate link (?aff=...), a first‑party referral cookie is stored to attribute purchases. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), where applicable.

You can control non‑essential cookies through your browser settings and, where presented, through our consent choices. Essential cookies are required for the service to function.

Retention

• Uploads are deleted after 1 day.
• Generated outputs and job metadata (including summaries) are deleted after 3 days.
• Account data is retained while your account exists or as required by law.

Security

Transport security via HTTPS; access is restricted to authorised personnel on a need‑to‑know basis.

Your rights

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR. To exercise these rights, contact hello@screendub.eu. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority, e.g. the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection.

Children

The service is not intended for children under 16.
